The Band
Black Nail Cabaret is a currently London-based pop noir duo, originally from Hungary. Formed in 2008, the group consists of Emese Arvai-Illes (vocals) and Krisztian Arvai (keyboards). The band originally started with Sophie Tarr (keyboards) who left the band in 2016 to pursue her own music project.

Shows
BNC had been known for their dramatic stage appearance, which involved theatrical elements, such as performers, dancers and handcrafted costumes in the first couple of years of their stage history. BNC still has a gripping stage presence to this day. The band has been playing shows since their debut in 2010 both as a featured act – at Schwarzes Leipzig Tanzt, Owls'n'Bats Festival, ElectriXmas, RECession Festival, Planet Myer Day, etc – and as a support band – with Camouflage, Covenant, De/Vision etc – in Europe.

Members
Emese participated on the latest album of German mastermind Daniel Myer's experimental electronica project Architect. MINE was released in September, 2013.

Krisztian has been the producer of BNC since their debut on stage in 2010. He stepped in to fill Sophie’s place in 2016 to become a full member. Krisztian is a former member of the Hungarian band Esotukor (1997-2009) and was playing the keys for the musical called An Imaginary Report on an American Rock Festival for 2 seasons in Jaszai Mari Theatre, Tatabanya, Hungary (1999-2001).

Influences
Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Eurythmics and Soft Cell, BNC showcase their own niche of melancholic dark pop, which they simply call pop noir.
