All is not well in Los Angeles: beyond the perfectly manicured lawns and pre-fab buildings, between the corporate media hype and pharmaceutical ads, behind the plastic surgery and spray-on tans, a sense of unrest grows, festering just beneath the surface, threatening to tip the delicate balance of artifice and apathy off it's axis and send the entire facade crashing into a well-deserved oblivion. It is this climate that birthed Christ vs. Warhol -- art school sedition with guitars instead of guns.
Fronted by agitprop siren eveghost (ex-Scarlet’s Remains and Purnama), Christ vs. Warhol is colored by the frenetic, swirling guitars of Steven James
(ex-Scarlet's Remains/Faith & The Muse, currently of The Deadfly Ensemble] and , driven by the eclectic, angular basslines of Marzia Rangel (ex-Scarlet's Remains/Faith & The Muse & currently of The Deadfly Ensemble), with ground shaking drums provided by Robert Sullen from Sullen Serenade who also joined Monica Richards on live percussion.
Dissent, the band's 2010 debut album, blends post-punk sensibilities with anarchic fervor, with lyrics ranging from the fiercely political to the delicately personal, all delivered with Christ vs. Warhol's trademark hooks and vicious energy. Recorded and mixed by the seminal William Faith (Faith & The Muse) at his Zone 0 studio in Los Angeles, Dissent is destined to bring Christ vs. Warhol's distinct, dynamic style and unique sonic aesthetic to the frontlines in a world that needs a wake-up call...

Auch wenn Christ vs. Warhol erst 2009 gegründet wurde, so stehen hinter der Band doch wahrlich keine Unbekannten, denn alle Mitglieder des kalifornischen Quartetts haben gespielt oder spielen in berühmten Bands des Genres. Die Sängerin Eve Ghost stammt von Scarlet's Remains, der Gitarrist Steven James riss die Saiten der E-Gitarre bei All Gone Dead, Marzia zupfte den Bass bereits für das Deadfly Ensemble und Geoff ist als Drummer von Faith and the Muse wahrlich auch kein Unbekannter.
Schneller Postpunk, kraftvoller Deathrock, rotzige Female-Vocals, frenetische Gitarren und energetische Basslines treiben die Musik vorwärts, Deathrockeinflüsse sind nicht zu überhören und selbst nicht ganz so harsche Stücke geben jede Menge Energie an die Umwelt frei. Das heißersehnte Debüt-Album "Dissent", für dessen Produktion sich William Faith höchstpersönlich verantwortlich zeichnet, wurde im Frühjahr 2010 veröffentlicht. Hier von einer beeindruckenden Werkschau des Batcave/Deathrock, die der Szene einen Blick zurück in die glorreiche Zeit des Gothic eröffnet, zu sprechen, trifft genau ins Schwarze. Das Album verbindet klassischen Goth-Sound mit modernen Elementen und überzeugt mit einem ausgefeilten Songwriting und gesellschaftskritischen Lyrics. Absolut hörenswert und richtungsweisend!
