The Soft Moon is an American post-punk band from Oakland, California, consisting of main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist Luis Vasquez. The Soft Moon's music has also been described as darkwave, minimal wave and industrial rock.
History
The band was founded by Vasquez as a solo project in 2009. He released two singles, "Breathe the Fire" and "Parallels", while working on his debut Self Titled LP. Prior to its release, Vasquez directed his energy into building a band around his project with the aim of delivering a full sensory experience within the context of live performance. The Soft Moon integrate visual elements on stage to accompany performances, which frequently include light shows.

The Soft Moon ist ein Ein-Mann-Projekt von Luis Vasquez, der aus New Wave, Post-Punk und Krautrock seinen eigenen Style, Neo-Post-Punk, bastelt. Mit seiner flüsternden Stimme erinnert Vasquez an Robert James Smith von The Cure oder Tom Smith von den Editors.
2010 erscheind das selbstbetitelte Debüt von The Soft Moon. Die Nachfolger-LP „Zeros“ mit der Soft Moon auf musikalische Zeitreise geht auf den Spuren von Joy Division und Sonic Youth wandelnd. Da sich Vasquez weiterhin mit Texten sehr zurückhält, bekommt man dafür viel Interpretationsspielraum. Gesang, Bässe, Gitarren, Synthesizer, auf „Zeros“ ist alles bis zum Anschlag verzerrt, es rauscht, fiept, ratscht und knallt.
Neben Soft Moon ist Vasquez zusätzlich noch mit seiner Band Lumerians unterwegs.
