Lacrimas Profundere was founded in 1993 by guitarist Oliver Schmid. At the time, the band was strongly influenced by doom/death metal, and made use of feminine vocals and classical elements. With the entrance of vocalist Anja Hötzendorfer, they drew enough attention to themselves to be able to record their debut, entitled …and the Wings Embraced Us, which was released in 1995 and was followed by La Naissance d’un Rêve, from 1997.
After said releases, the band was granted a deal with Napalm Records which included five albums. An harpist was added to the band’s line-up and they proceeded to record Memorandum (1999).
Burning: A Wish from 2001 was Lacrimas Profundere’s first album to receive attention from the international specialized press. This album featured the removal of the band’s classical elements to some degree, and was also the first time they employed baritone vocals, supplied by Oliver’s brother, Christopher Schmid. Their first international tour then began, including countries of Europe and Latin America.
Lacrimas Profundere’s subsequent albums were Fall, I Will Follow from 2002 and Ave End from 2004. Recently their newest albums has been brought in the shops: Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts.
Again, the formula of heavy guitars and the low smooth voice of the leadsinger brings a nice soothing sound.
In 2007 there ocurred some line-up changes, including the departure of the vocalist Christopher Schmid (who aleged stress problems to leave the band). The only founding member is now the guitarist Oliver Nikolas Schmid.

Bandgeschichte
Lacrimas Profundere wurde im Jahre 1993 von Oliver Nikolas gegründet, kurz darauf schloss sich sein Bruder Christopher Schmid dem Projekt an. Mit der Zeit gab es eine Menge Line-up-Wechsel. 1999 unterschrieb Lacrimas Profundere einen Plattenvertrag mit Napalm Records. Das Label veröffentlichte noch im gleichen Jahr das Album Memorandum. In den nächsten Jahren erschienen Burning: A Wish, Fall, I Will Follow, Ave End und Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts. 2007 verließ Christopher Schmid die Band, da er Lacrimas Profundere nicht mehr mit seinem sonstigen Leben vereinbaren konnte. Er wird weiterhin am Songwriting teilnehmen, als Sänger der Band wurde zuerst Peter Kafka (vormals Fiddler’s Green) engagiert. Dieser wird allerdings nun den Bass übernehmen, nachdem sich Daniel Lechner am 8. August 2007 beim Konzert in Otting aus der Band verabschiedete. Als neuer Sänger war bei diesem Konzert schon Roberto Vitacca von der Band lost am Mikrofon. Im November 2007 spielte die Gruppe als Vorband für Apocalyptica auf einer Europatournee. Am 27. Juni 2008 wurde das neue Album Songs for the Last View veröffentlicht, 2010 folgte das Album The Grandiose Nowhere.
Stil
Während der Anfangszeiten vermischten Lacrimas Profundere noch Gothic Metal mit typischen Death Metal Growls, doch mit der Zeit wurden diese Growls weniger bis sie dann auf dem fünften Studioalbum Fall, I will follow komplett verschwanden-außer bei dem Lied Nummer Fünf "Sear me pale sun"; auf dem sechsten Studioalbum "Ave End" growlt der Sänger ebenfalls nur bei dem Lied "Astronautumn". Heute spielen Lacrimas Profundere eine sehr gefühlvolle und traurige, aber doch immer facettenreiche Mischung aus Dark Rock, Gothic Metal und Doom Metal. Die Band selbst bezeichnet ihren Stil mittlerweile als „Rock’n’Sad“. Die Texte sind, außer "Lilienmeer" (in Deutsch), oder "Priamus" (von "La Naissance D'Un Reve", in Latein), allesamt auf Englisch gehalten.
