(lastfm) Fjoergyn is a German melodic/pagan metal band formed in 2003. Currently it consists of only two members, and they are looking for a drummer and a guitarist. The name Fjoergyn is the name of an Earth Goddess from Viking Mythology.
On March 29, 2005 they released their debut album Ernte im Herbst on the record label Black Attakk. It is a concept album about natures revenge against mankind. They used a drum machine since they had no drummer at the time of the recording.
After leaving Black Attakk the band signed with Reartone Records. Their sophomore album Sade et Masoch, a concept album about the nature of man, was released on June 29, 2007.
By 2009, Fjoergyn was with label Trollzorn on which their third album, Jahreszeiten, was released on the 10th of September that year.

Fjoergyn wurde 2003 in Jena vom Die Saat Sänger Stephan L. gegründet. Das Genre ist nicht eindeutig zu beschreiben, es sind neben Einflüssen von Death-, Folk-, Black- sowie Pagan Metal auch einige Passagen von klassisch anmutender Musik zu finden. Die Songs sind meistens langsam und episch-atmosphärisch.
Momentan besteht sie aus vier Mitgliedern. Der Name Fjörgyn kommt aus der nordischen Mythologie und bedeutet auf altnordisch Erde.
Am 29. März 2005 veröffentlichten sie ihr Debütalbum Ernte Im Herbst unter dem Label Black Attakk. Es ist ein Konzeptalbum über die Rache der Natur an der Menschheit. Die Band benutzte damals einen Drumcomputer da sie noch keinen Schlagzeuger hatte.
Das zweite Album, Sade et Masoch wurde im Frühling 2007 fertiggestellt und veröffentlicht. Dafür war Martin L. dazugekommen, der das Schlagzeug übernahm.
Im Herbst 2009 erschien das dritte Album Jahreszeiten. Auf der "Nachtreisen"-Tour mit Dornenreich und Ahab wurde vorab eine auf 365 Stück limitierte handsignierte Version des Albums in einer Metallbox verkauft.
