The Breath of Life started in the eighties when a trio of musicians were joined by a young female singer. With the release of the second studio album «Taste of sorrow» in 1994 the Belgian band developed a unique sound complemented by, what the press described as, the ‘magical voice’ of Isabelle Dekeyser. "The songs are endearing and energetic, with the bass well forward, nerve guitars, original use of the violin, electronic stormy moods and sometimes lyrical, sometimes angry voices" (Books CARNETS NOIRS - International scene). You should recognise their classic club-hits «Nasty cloud» and «Shining». The first five albums were recorded and mixed by the well-know French producer Gilles Martin.
Starting off with regional performances, they soon continued to play all over Europe including big events such as Zillo Festival, M’era luna, Castle Party, Whitby Festival, Gothic Autumn Night, Eurorock, Dour Festival, Wave Gotik Treffen, etc.
In 2017, The Breath of Life is back and proudly releases a new album "Under The Falling Stars" (produced by Gilles Martin). With this 9th release, the band entices the listener back into their own specific realm of emotions.

Das belgische Trio THE BREATH OF LIFE gibt es bereits seit 1985. Als sie 1992 ihr zweites Album „Taste of Sorrow“ veröffentlichen, wurde von der Presse besonders die herausragende Stimme von Isablle Dekeyser gefeiert und als „magische Stimme“ betitelt.Viele werden sich noch an die Clubhits „Nasty Coud“ und „Shining“ erinnern, die zu dieser Zeit rauf und runter gespielt wurden. THE BREATH OF LIFE tourten durch ganz Europa und bespielten alle großen Festivals, die die Szene zu bieten hat, vom M’era Luna bis zum WGT.
2017 ist es nun soweit, THE BREATH OF LIFE sind mit ihrem neuen und neunten Album „Under The Falling Stars“ zurück. Gemixt, produziert und gemastert von niemand geringerem als Gilles Martin (Tuxedomoon, Malaria, Wire u.vm.) der auch schon bei den ersten 5 Alben mit THE BREATH OF LIFE zusammen gearbeitet hat.
Mit mehr als 30Jahren Bandgeschichte ist die magische Balance zwischen den Bandmitgliedern nur noch deutlicher zu spüren und wiedermal ist dieser Release eine wunderschöne Mischung zwischen rührendem Violensound, einer starken Stimme, harten Gitarren und Basslinien sowie einem unverwechselbaren Wave-Sound.
