"There is music in every situation you get yourself into.”
So says Eivør – vocalist, instrumentalist and songwriter with a voice of rare beauty and power – when asked about where she gets her inspiration. These aren’t just words as she has relentlessly pursued music ever since dedicating her life to it at the tender age of fifteen.
Born in 1983 in the Faroe Islands, Eivør’s early musical forays were steeped in Faroese musical traditions. At the age of sixteen she released her self-titled debut album bearing the marks of this fruitful starting point. While an enduring love of Faroese culture remains at the heart of her work, its expression has been widened through profound interaction with other traditions.
Eivør’s musical palette has broadened since her folk beginnings as her albums and performances variably have included jazz, country folk, big band stylings, classical influences, and trip hop tinted rock. As of late, she has consolidated these experimental inputs into her own style of folktronica with heartfelt lyrical observations of life as it unfolds.
Eivør is now based in Denmark. Her music covers a wide musical and emotional range. She remains a voice unique in its intimacy, its effortless virtuosity and range of colours, evident from her first recording all the way through to her tenth album Slør from 2015. The english version of Slør was released in May 2017. The release sees Eivør entering the UK market performing on BBC’s Jools Holland and a sold out UK tour in June with a follow-up tour later in 2017. As always, she is a riveting live performer with a vivacious and warm stage presence.
Her career has thus far been a testament to the fact that there is indeed music in every situation. Yet it takes a skilled artist to be able to grasp and express this music and Eivør is such an artist; an acclaimed vocalist/composer at the peak of her powers.

So beschreibt es Eivør – Sängerin, Instrumentalistin und Songwriterin, mit einer schönen und kraftvollen Stimme, wie man sie selten hört – wird sie nach ihren Inspirationsquellen gefragt. Dies sind nicht nur leere Worte, widmet sie ihr Leben doch schon seit dem zarten Alter von 15 Jahren der Musik.
1983 auf den Färöer Inseln geboren, tauchte sie früh in die musikalische Tradition der Färöer ein. Mit 16 veröffentlichte sie die Früchte dieser frühzeitigen Erfahrungen in Form ihres selbstbetitelten Debut-Albums. Während die andauernde Liebe zur färöischen Kultur weiterhin das Herzstück ihrer Arbeit ist, wurde deren Ausdruck durch tiefsinniges Zusammenspiel mit anderen Traditionen erweitert.
Eivørs musikalische Palette ist seit ihren Folk-Anfängen breiter geworden. Ihre Alben und Aufführungen sind unterschiedlich gespickt mit Jazz, Country Folk, Big Band Styling, klassischem Einfluss und Trip Hop gefärbtem Rock. Seit Neuestem vereint sie diese experimentellen Einflüsse ihres eigenen Folktronica-Styles mit aufrichtigen Texten über die Enthüllungen des Lebens.
Eivør lebt heutzutage in Dänemark. Ihre Musik deckt ein weites musikalisches und emotionales Feld ab. Mit ihrer Intimität, mühelosen Vielfältigkeit und zahlreichen Farben bleibt ihre Stimme einzigartig, schon von ihrer ersten Aufnahme an bis hin zu ihrem 10. Album Slør 2015.
Die englische Version von Slør wurde im Mai 2017 veröffentlicht. Mit der Veröffentlichung gelang Eivør der Einstieg in den UK-Markt. Sie trat bei BBC’s Jools Holland auf und spielte eine ausverkaufte UK-Tour im Juni, welche Ende 2017 verlängert wurde. Wie immer ist sie eine fesselnde Live-Künstlerin mit einer lebhaften und warmen Bühnenpräsenz.
Ihre Karriere steht als Beweis dafür, dass sich tatsächlich in jeder Situation Musik findet.
Es braucht jedoch einen qualifizierten Künstler, um diese Musik zu fassen und auszudrücken und solch eine Künstlerin ist Eivør; eine gefeierte Sängerin/Komponistin auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Kräfte.
