Then Comes Silence are the Swedish captains of postpunk. The quartet from Stockholm is a fresh breeze of gothic renaissance, kicking darkness around with hammering rhythms and melodies that makes hearts melt and blood freeze. The fascination for doom and darkness pervade and influence every tune and word.
The music of Then Comes Silence takes the listener on a journey from swinging postpunk to the shadows of goth-gaze and into scraps of coal hearted psych. The sharp soundscape is intense, massive and pounding. The lyrics flirt with death and sorrow. It’s goth, psychedelica, rock and post-punk in a symbiosis.
Since Then Comes Silence’s very first show, as the opening act for A Place to Bury Strangers in 2012, the band has toured frequently around Germany and Scandinavia and released three full-length albums. Their music attracts wide attention and is praised for its apocalyptic sound and dystopian message.
Their fourth album, “Blood”, will be released in October 2017. Produced and engineered by Tom van Heesch (Rammstein, Entombed A.D., Backyard Babies, Michael Monroe).

Geschichte
Mit Gründung von Then Comes Silence im Jahr 2012 veröffentlichte die Musikgruppe ihr erstes Album. Nach diversen Auftritten bei verschiedenen Musikfestivals erschien bereits im darauffolgenden Jahr das zweite Album Then Comes Silence II, gekoppelt an die Singles She Lies In Wait und Can‘t Hide. Im Jahr 2015 folgt das dritte Album Nyctophilian - Then Comes Silence III. Im Jahr 2016 schlossen Then Comes Silence einen Vertrag mit dem deutschen Label Nuclear Blast.
Stil
Die Musik von Then Comes Silence wird als „facettenreiche[r] Goth-Rock mit einem guten Verständnis für zeitgemäßen Post-Punk und Noise“ beschrieben. Als Einflüsse werden von den Musikern DAF und Killing Joke genannt. Rezensenten nennen hinzukommend Beastmilk, Bauhaus und Red Lorry Yellow Lorry als potentielle Einflussfaktoren.
Das musikalische Konzept bestünde aus „treibenden Keyboards, zeitweiligen, leichten Metal-Anklängen und einem zusätzlichen Schuss Shoegaze“, womit Then Comes Silence auch dem Gothic Rock „rund um die Jahrtausendewende“ nahe stünden. Dabei würden „leichte Western-Anklänge in den Gitarrenparts“ auch Einflüssen der Fields of the Nephilim nahelegen. Der Gesang gilt als sporadisch eingesetzt und mit viel Hall versehen.
