The Last Cry are a three piece Darkwave band from the south coast in the UK, they released their debut album ‘Walking To The Edge’ in 2009 which was critically acclaimed.
Playing ‘Walking To The Edge’ live around Europe was met with great praise and attracted a lot of attention mainly due to their extravagant shows, this energy is what has driven the band in the making of their second album ‘Living In Grey’ which was released end of 2012 on afmusic.
The soundscape that best describes the new material is melodic, melancholic, edgy and powerful, but also is more accessible to the listener.
The Last Cry skillfully combine keyboards and guitars weaving around the bass lines and coming together with the heartfelt and emotional vocals making their sound as distinctive as the mixture is and drawing the listener into a lyrical maelstrom of fear, despair and void.

The Last Cry sind ein britisches Trio, bestehend aus Andrew Birch (Vocals), Chris Carey (Bass, Keyboards) und Tim Green (Gitarre, Keyboards).
Beeinflusst in ihrer Musik von legendären Bands wie The Cure oder Depeche Mode, die in ihrer musikalischen Ausrichtung doch recht unterschiedliche Stile repräsentieren, lässt sich auch die Musik von The Last Cry's Debüt-Album "Walking To The Edge" nicht wirklich einordnen.
Düsternis kann man auf verschiedene Arten interpretieren und das tun die Briten ausgiebig.
So findet man bei The Last Cry, neben sanften Balladen, die von sphärischen Keyboardflächen und ruhigen, doch schon an The Cure erinnernden Gitarrenläufen getragen werden, auch beatlastigere, rhythmisch-treibende Songs mit leicht angezerrten Vocals. Alles in allem aber immer intensiv, atmosphärisch dicht und dramatisch verpackt. Über allem schwebt der Hauch des Gothrock und so schließen The Last Cry mit ihrer musikalischen Mischung nicht nur eine Lücke zwischen Musikstilen, sondern in gewisser Weise auch zwischen Generationen.
Nach der Veröffentlichung des Debüts begann man "straight ahead" sich auch einen Namen als Live-Band zum machen und spielte bisher mit Szenegrößen wie The Mission, All About Eve, The Damned, Skeletal Family und The Chameleons. Positives Feedback von Besuchern gab es zu Hauf für die intensiven, leidenschaftlichen und vor allem authentischen Live-Shows der Band.
Zum Abschluss eines erfolgreichen Jahres 2011 wurden The Last Cry dann auch als i-Tüpfelchen zur Static Magazin "Band des Jahres" gekürt. Und 2012 verspricht für The Last Cry nicht weniger "aufregend" zu werden. Nach einer kurzen Europatour im April, ist für den Sommer die Arbeit am zweiten Album "Living In Grey" sowie eine Kooperation mit Tenek geplant (Stand: 02.2012).
