Nicole Sabouné was introduced to the Swedish music scene when she released her debute album "Must Exist" in 2014. She has now developed and created her own atmospheric universe with the upcoming new album "Miman"
The dark and post-punk influenced esthetics from the debut can still be noticed but has been formed and reformed at "Miman". Sabouné has produced and composed her new material and has been the centre of the production around "Miman". As a result of this we find a record that takes place in a dark and beautiful world under ground, and an album on which Sabouné has challenged herself to find new undiscovered musical paths and a new and more personal sound.
The title "Miman" referes back to Harry Martinsons 1956 poem "Aniara" where it’s the name of the machine, with the ability to think for itself, that collects all the memories of the human race. "Miman" explores the greed within the human nature and how this is spinning towards self destruction. It is a personal, visual and very intimate observation of an occult world that the album reviles, dark and intense but yet not threatful. "Miman" follows a clear structure that takes place in the same new universe that Sabouné has created.
Linking back to Martinson "Miman" tells a story. Every track picks up where the last one left and creates a compact and united sound, without for this sake becoming anything near a concept album.
By using her voice as the strong and independent leading instrument, and by letting the instrumental parts paint a musical landscape inspired by John Bauer, "Miman" finds a natural place leading on what Cocteau Twins and Dead Can Dance started in the 80´s.
Nicole Sabounés voice stands strong alongside a dramatic musical structure that you rarely find in Swedish music these days.

Nicole Sabouné weiß schon als kleines Kind was sie später einmal werden will: Musikerin. Und nichts anderes: "Ich kann mich an keine Zeit in meinem Leben erinnern, in der ich einen Berufswunsch hatte. Musik war für mich schon in der Schule das Größte", verrät die schwedische Sängerin mit libanesischen Wurzeln.
Aufgewachsen in dem kleinen Örtchen Sölvesborg singt die kleine Nicole den lieben langen Tag vor sich her. Daheim, im Kindergarten, in der Schule: Ohne Musik geht bei ihr gar nichts.
In der Schule schnuppert sie erstmals Bühnenluft. In liebevoll arrangierten Klassen-Shows zeigt Nicole ihr Können und erntet viel Applaus. Auch als Teenie weicht die Musik nicht von Nicoles Seite. Post-Punk, Indierock und New Wave haben es der Schwedin besonders angetan.
Im Jahr 2012 setzt sie schließlich alles auf eine Karte. Via Castingshow strebt Nicole den großen Durchbruch an. In der schwedischen Ausgabe von "The Voice" kommt sie bis ins Halbfinale und beeindruckt die TV-Nation mit atmosphärischen Coverversionen von Kate Bush und Sinead O'Connor.
Zwei Jahre folgt der nächste Schritt. Nicole Sabouné veröffentlicht ihr Solo-Debütalbum "Must Exist". Mit ihrem dichten Mix aus Post-Punk und elektronisch angehauchtem Wave erspielt sich Nicole in ihrem Heimatland schnell eine stetig wachsende Anhängerschaft.
Aber Nicole will mehr. Sie will auch im Ausland auftreten und für Furore sorgen. Nach einem Konzert in Göteborg trifft Nicole backstage auf Jens Prüter, seines Zeichens A&R-Chef von Century Media. Jens ist schwer beeindruckt von Nicole und ihren Sangeskünsten.
Kurze Zeit später unterschreibt die Sängerin bei dem deutschen Metal-Label: "Mir ist es egal, wen das Label noch betreut. Von mir aus können sie jede Metal-Band der Welt signen. Ich verstehe mich super mit den Leuten. Und nur darauf kommt es an", erklärt Nicole.
Mit der Musik von Nick Cave, PJ Harvey und David Bowie im Herzen und einer kleinen Backing-Band im Gepäck macht sich Nicole im Jahr 2016 erneut auf den Weg ins Studio. Es entsteht das Album "Miman", das im Januar 2017 veröffentlicht wird: "Ich bin glücklich, dass ich jetzt auch die Möglichkeit habe, meine Musik im Ausland zu präsentieren. Das ist ein sehr inspirierendes Gefühl, dass ich nutzen werde, um mich musikalisch und persönlich weiterzuentwickeln."
