Sławomir Rozlach graduated with distinction from the class of Waldemar Tamowski at Katowice Music Academy, before taking a post-graduate course at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with Michael Wolf. He has participated in music courses with Tadeusz Pelczar, in Łańcut, Klaus Stoll, at the Mozarteum Summer Academy, and Gary Karr. During his studies in Berlin, he took private lessons with the legendary concert-master of the Berlin Philharmonic Michel Schwalbé.
A prize-winner of all-Poland double bass competitions in Elbląg and Poznań and of the Markneukirchen Competition, he has been awarded grants by the Ministry of Culture and the Arts and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester's Orchestra Academy, with which he played from 1992 to 1997 in the most prestigious concert halls under such maestri as Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, Neville Marriner and Riccardo Chailly.
In the years 1993-96, he was double bass soloist with the Silesian Chamber Orchestra and the Katowice Philharmonic. From 1998 to 2002, he led the double bass group of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and since 2002 he has played in one of the oldest and most renowned ensembles - the orchestra of the Leipzig Gewandhaus, which has just completed its 233rd season. Since 2004, he has also been a member of the Neues Bachisches Collegium Musicum, an early music ensemble formed by Gewandhaus musicians that cultivates the traditions of the ensemble founded by Telemann and later led by Bach himself. He also performs regularly in other highly regarded chamber ensembles: the Leipziger Bach Collegium and Virtuosi Saxoniae, founded by their leader, the well-known trumpeter Ludwig Güttler.
He has also played in the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, founded by Claudio Abbado, the former members of which have included Natalia Gutman, Sabine Meyer and Kolja Blacher, members of the Alban Berg Quartett and Hagen-Quartett, and musicians of the most esteemed symphony orchestras, such as the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras and the Amsterdam Orkest.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, Silesian Chamber Orchestra and the Gewandhaus's chamber ensemble. He has also given recitals on concert platforms in Poland, Germany and Austria.
