Founded: 1993 - Leipzig, Germany

The Collegium Vocale Leipzig (= CVL) was founded in 1993. This very select ensemble addresses itself in the first place to the performance and study of Middle German Baroque music, the focus being on the compositions of Heinrich Schütz and his contemporaries and on the works of J.S. Bach. Together with the Leipzig Vocal Soloists and the Leipzig Bach Soloists, the ensemble has performed a succession of cantatas and oratorios directed by Michael Schönheit. It has also appeared with the Chursüchsische Capelle Leipzig, as at the Merseburg Organ Festival.

Numerous broadcasts and CD recordings testify to the young ensemble's success.
